South Korea is becoming one of the must-see countries quickly and confidently. And Seoul, as a new trendy place for tourism, attracts fans of Korean culture, fashionistas, exotic lovers and ones just wanting to see a completely different world.

Each new unusual dish, each new k-pop group or dorama falls in love with Korea more and more. And the main concentration of this Korean madness that has swept the world is in Seoul. It's a great city, and Seoul must be added to your list of must-visit places on the planet.

Incheon International Airport, ICN

It is one of the largest airports in the world. In addition, it is quite new — open since 2001. It has everything a traveler needs, and even a little more. For example, at Incheon Airport you can play a casino games or golf, take a walk in the winter garden right inside the building or go for a massage. This Seoul airport constantly falls into first places with different ratings for passenger comfort. If you give the airports the stars like a hotel rating system, Incheon pulls on all five stars.

There are practically no queues, it is impossible to get lost, and a long wait for a transplant will not become torture, as is often the case in other cities. So, getting off the ramp, passengers immediately get acquainted with the level of development of Seoul and concern for tourists.

How to get from the airport to the city center

Incheon Airport is 70 km away from the city center. And there are four main ways to overcome this distance.

Airport Express (AREX): This is the fastest way. It works like clockwork and takes you to Seoul Station in exactly 43 minutes. Trains are very comfortable with free Wi-Fi on board. One way ticket costs $ 7.5. The train leaves every 40 minutes.

By regular train: This is the second fastest way to get to Seoul from Incheon. It takes you to Seoul Station in about 58 minutes and will cost you just $ 3.5 one way. Trains run from 5:23 to 23:40.

By bus: A one-way ticket costs $ 7.5, like AREX. But it takes much longer — about 80 minutes. But if you need to go at night, then this is the best option, because buses run until late at night.

By taxi: you will have to pay more for comfort, but you will ride in the comfortable seats of new cars. The trip will take an hour, and will cost about 60 dollars.

What to do in Seoul

South Korea has been a leader in technology, automotive and entertainment in recent years. Korean brands such as Samsung or Hyundai do not need to be introduced anywhere in the world. In addition, the whole world is now watching K-dramas and listening to K-pop. The Korean cosmetics beloved by girls travels from here to different countries. And, of course, everyone is crazy about Korean food! South Korea is thriving now, and Seoul is at the center of all this development.

Changing of the guard in the palaces of Chhandok and Gyeongbok

There are five royal palace complexes of the Joseon Dynasty in Seoul. Is it obligatory to look at them? And how! Each of them is interesting in its own way and is not like the others. But if time is running out and you want to get the most, then special attention should be paid to the palaces of Chhandok and Gyeongbok.

Chhandok is a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its stunning beauty. And Gyeongbok is the main palace, which has gathered all the traditions of the Korean imperial dynasties. If you make time, then you can watch the special ritual of changing of the guard.

Bucheon Village

No matter how ultramodern Seoul may be, right in the center of the city you can accidentally wander into a traditional Korean village. This is an inspiring example of how careful you can keep your own story.

Bucheon Village is a maze of narrow streets and traditional Korean houses called Hanoks. Here you literally feel in the past, returning about 600 years ago. The most important attraction for tourists in Buccheon is to wear a traditional Korean Hanbok costume and take some atmospheric photos.

Seoul TV Tower

As for the magnificent views, this TV tower can show you the best of them. Tower Namsan or popularly Tower N rises 480 meters above sea level. This is perhaps the best place to explore the city from a bird's eye view.

To reach this height, use the Namsan cable car. Entrance to the tower is paid, but worth the money. And it’s also customary for couples to hang locks with their names on the tower. So it is better to stock up with an iron talisman in advance.

Dongdaemun Design Plaza

This place fascinates all visitors. It doesn’t matter if you are interested in design, you need to add Dongdaemun Design Plaza to your to-do list in Seoul. In fact, this is a combination of a museum, a designer supermarket and a spaceship. It sounds as interesting as it really is.

This building was invented and implemented by the legendary Zaha Hadid. Among her other creations are the Olympic Water Center in London and the Guangzhou Opera House in China. All the projects of Zaha Hadid in one way or another delight visitors. And Dongdaemun Design Plaza is up to the task.

Shopping in Insadon, Myeongdong and Hongdae

Seoul is a paradise for any shopaholic. There are quite a lot of shopping areas, but Insadon, Myeongdong and Hongde are considered the main ones. Each is interesting in its own way.

In Insadon, they mainly sell art. Here you can find works of contemporary artists and sculptors, get acquainted with local needlework. Myeongdong is an abundance of expensive brands, luxury clothing and quality cosmetics. And Hongde is a more budget and bolder fashion. It has a relaxed student atmosphere.

Cookin’ Nanta Show

If you are considering a cultural holiday in Seoul, you should pay attention to the humorous presentation of the Cookin ’Nanta Show. This is one of the most famous Korean entertainment. The Cookin ’Nanta Show toured around the world, reaching even Broadway in the early 2000s.

There are no words in the show, only sounds. Actors show performance through cooking. They use the sounds of kitchen appliances and the noise of cooking to create slender symphonies. At the same time, the show tells a whole story filled with its fun and intense moments. You’ll never see anything like it in the world.

What to eat in Seoul

Delicious food in Seoul is literally everywhere. And there is no mention of Korean carrots here. The most traditional snack in Korea is peking cabbage Kimchi. Almost every family cooks Kimchi in large volumes and serves this snack for any meal.

Kimchi is one of the ingredients in a set of Banchan. When ordering Banchan in a restaurant, get ready for an abundance of tiny small bowls with a variety of ingredients. There will be algae, and pickled eggs, and vegetables, and some unusual beans. All this is usually served before main courses.

One of the most delicious Korean dishes is often called Ganjang Gejang. This is a raw pickled crab in an abundance of spices and chili peppers. A whole crab with a serving of rice can be ordered for about $ 25 — not such a big price for the most delicious dish.

You will find a Korean barbecue in almost every place in Seoul. A set of pieces of pickled meat of your choice and a small portable grill are brought to the table. Fry for your pleasure and eat meat literally just taken from the fire.
And if you prefer street food, then Seoul will definitely please you. Fried pies, lobster tails, ice cream in cookies. No matter what you choose, you can be sure of the taste of each piece.
